Update Phase 2: Blood and Shadows

As an update on my update process, I now have a print-proof from IngramSpark en route to me. I began with Wolfen, because it’s the longest and potentially the most problematic. I figure, if I can perfect that one, the rest of my print editions should be a breeze! =) Once I check that the layout is good, the font is readable, and the cover prints the way it’s supposed to, I will be (re)formatting all my other print editions for IngramSpark. The life of an Indie author…

Oh, who am I kidding? I live for this stuff! Seriously, the hardest thing about the entire process (for me, anyway) is the wait I have to endure before I can move on to the next step. So, having redone the Dawn of Ragnarok covers, and while I’m waiting for Wolfen to arrive on my doorstep, I’ve been keeping busy redesigning the Blood and Shadows series covers. Again, there is a valid, technical reason for me doing this. Because of the darkness and the contrast, the old covers didn’t print correctly, and I had to fix that, which resulted in covers that look faded on the screen and almost too dark in print. And, as much as I love the dramatic look of them, the corona lighting elements were more in line with alien themes than what my books are actually about.

And that is why I absolutely love this new design. It’s light and dark, mirroring the battles in the books, as well as the larger series arc, and it incorporates an element of the biggest theme in the books: DNA and its manipulation. These covers convey the story much better than their previous incarnations, and I’m practically salivating to see them in print, because they will look out of this world gorgeous!

Don’t believe me? See for yourself:

Reinventing The Wheel

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the moment you root your feet, you get struck by a speeding bus. Okay, maybe that’s a little harsher than I intended, but the sentiment is sound. The only constant in this universe is change, and that holds true for everything in life: relationships, business, art, culture, language, and everything in between. We come to expect it, get bored when nothing happens for a while. But we tend to develop a serious blind spot when it comes to ourselves.

Farewell to The Blood Series

Dear friends, followers, and readers, The last few years have been an amazing ride for me. My writerly journey has taken me to some beautiful places, and it all started with Liquid Silver Books taking me, a complete newbie, under its wing, and making my dreams of being a published author come true. Now, after a happy 5-year association, for which LSB will always have my undying thanks, I have had to make the decision every writer comes to eventually: to do what is best for me and my books. I love LSB dearly, and always will. They have been nothing but supportive of my efforts to bring my books to readers everywhere. However, having spent the last three years… Read More »Farewell to The Blood Series

For those who follow my Facebook posts, you’ve seen me share some excerpts in the past. I also have a gorgeous cover,… Read More »State Of The Author Address

Midsummer Night’s Dream Men

Hello and welcome to another fantastic blog hop! If you’re just joining us, check out the hop from the beginning. Just click here. The theme for this one is Midsummer Night’s Dream Men and the moment I heard it, I knew I would be sharing an excerpt from BLOOD DEBTS because not only is Gabriel one of my dream men, he features rather prominently in some very naughty dreams Dr. Amelia Chase has. I had two to choose from. This one is the… shall we say tamer of the two. 😉 Scroll down and enjoy! A Dream For The Journals She was in her solarium, but it felt more like a jungle. The plants were overgrown, hiding the pathway completely. The… Read More »Midsummer Night’s Dream Men
