Blood Debts

Status: In Progress Synopsis: Just what will it take for Amelia to get her life back to normal? Had it ever been normal to begin with? The answer is waiting for her in her kitchen. Sitting at her table, pointing a gun at her and demanding that she resurrect an experimental study that only one person has ever survived. Now she’s being threatened into accepting a job to in all likelihood help a guy kill himself in a very expensive and excruciatingly painful way. And the kicker is, this is the lesser of two evils for the both of them. Yep, just another normal day in her ordinary life.

Huzzah for Music!!

Okay, so it took me a while, but I found a widget that works on this blog and doesn’t mess up. Yey for me. And you, because now I get to share what I hear or listen to when writing my stories. I have yet to do this with just mp3’s so for now there are videos. Feel free to ignore those, but do have a listen to the tunes. There are 5 songs so far, and they are character-specific. If people had theme songs, these would be them for 4 main characters and one bad guy. Enjoy!

Blood Trails

Status: Finished 1st Draft Short Synopsis: Okay, so warping her scientist sister’s research and trying to make herself a shape shifter probably wasn’t the best idea. But at least Hailey finally got the recognition she deserved. That would be great… if it wasn’t killing her. Hailey has no control over the animal that has taken over half her life. Dying she can handle. Having other people die around her, that’s a different story. When bodies begin piling up, supposed “animal attacks,” Hailey’s only saving grace is that no one knows what she can do. But did she do it? Could her animal side have won?

Writer’s Block

It always comes to that at some point, doesn’t it? I am sitting here, starting at the computer screen, one and a half chapters away from finishing a story, and it’s like trying to pull a hairclip from a wooly sheep. Even writing this post, I don’t really know what I want to say. I know why I’m blocked, but don’t know how to get over it. And I keep trying to write something – anything at this point – because I want to finally get the first draft finished. John Bon Jovi isn’t helping, either. It’s sad music that just makes me depressed. Probably not a good idea to listen to Always two days before Valentine’s day, while trying… Read More »Writer’s Block

“Oh, really? What do you write?”

There are artists, and then there are writers. Some people will tell you that writers are artists, too. I agree with this, but I make a distinction – and for a very good reason: To admire an artist’s work requires eyes (or ears, depending on whether it’s visual art or music); but to admire a writer’s work requires at the very least an attention span. This is something a lot of people lack. Well, to be fair, it’s either attention span, or time. Either way, you cannot look at a book and admire it. You need to sit down and actually read it. This is the loophole that makes so many good books go unappreciated, and so much trash sell… Read More »“Oh, really? What do you write?”

Technical Issues

No sooner have I started this blog than my computer decided to go senile. I am having to do some serious, and very time consuming fixes to see if I can make it work again. So far, no luck. I can still use it, I just can’t connect to the internet. At least that gives me a fighting chance to back up all my pictures before it crashes completely (and I really hope that doesn’t happen). Luckily, I don’t save any of my work on my computer anymore. I have so many flash drives I could play chess with them, and everything gets backed up to my email as well. So this is my theme for the question of the… Read More »Technical Issues

Greetings!

Hello, and welcome to my blog! It’s not much yet. A work in progress, if you will, but don’t get discouraged; there’s more to come soon. You probably don’t know me, so allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alianne (that is my pen name). I write … pretty much everything: short stories, novellas, full-length novels, in almost every genre out there. Except straight contemporary and “true stories.” Those kind of stump me. And for good reason: For me, reading is about escaping reality and immersing myself in something out of the ordinary. I want to be taken on a wild ride, and that’s what I strive to accomplish with my writing. So what can you expect from this… Read More »Greetings!

Blood Moons

Status: Finished Short Synopsis: What makes us good or bad? How far does moral obligation stretch? When Dara called the police about a murder she witnessed, she knew she’d end up taking the fall. After all, it’s not like she could tell the judge she only saw it in her mind. But life in prison can’t be that bad, can it? Turs out, it’s far worse.
