Time for an update

Because I just realized there hasn’t been one in a while. =) Grown-up life has a way of catching up to me. Yesterday I got my first ever royalties check and almost threw it in the trash because I thought it was spam. Yep, brilliant, I know. But I am so excited about it! I honestly didn’t expect one this soon. I can’t believe I’m officially a paid author. Well, okay, that’s a lie. I can believe it and I’m grinning from ear to ear writing this. I’ve been lacking in inspiration lately so I thought it was time to pick up a new book. On the menu this morning was Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson. I… Read More »Time for an update

Excerpt from Blood Moons

This was posted earlier today on the LSB Forum in the “Coming Soon” section. I figured it should be added here too. Enjoy!   ————————–   Hunt slid off his bed and landed softly, stretching his half-naked body. Dara stared. In his shirt yesterday he’d been impressive. Without it today … Holy crap! For just a second, watching those beautiful muscles stretch and bulge, she forgot where she was and who he was. The walls faded away, the other voices muted, and she was just a woman, staring at a man who just rolled out of bed, his pants riding low on his hips. And Dara was curious about what it would feel like to be gathered up in arms… Read More »Excerpt from Blood Moons

Vacation Time

It’s that time of the year when I leave home sweet home and go out into the world. This time I am in Europe. When I look out the window of my room, I see alpine mountains and lots of greenery. There is a car passing by maybe three times a day. I wake up to the sound of birdsongs and the smell of air so fresh there is nothing like it. A far cry from city living. The process of publishing Blood Moons is well on its way. It now has an ISBN number and is in the hands of my new editor. Still no word on tentative release date, but I’m not worried. I’m still battling jetlag, but… Read More »Vacation Time

Happiness

Nothing I can say here could ever come close to describing how it feels to read an acceptance letter. It’s something you need to experience on your own skin to understand. I’ve been dancing and jumping around since I got that letter, grinning from ear to ear. My face hurts, but I don’t care LOL I am proud – and so very very excited – to announce that I have signed my first contract! I don’t have any details to give yet, but I will keep updating as things progress. There shall be an Alianne Donnelly original out there in the world soon. I can’t wait!!

Editing

There are writers who believe their words are sacred and will fight tooth and nail to keep from having to edit their work. I am not one of them. I was taught early on that re-writing is as important, if not more so, than writing. I believe this is true. I also don’t mind being critiqued. In fact, sometimes I need it to see errors and rough spots in my writing. I have spent the last week either editing, or thinking about editing a single chapter (about 9 pages). It might not seem like much, but when you have specific instructions on what to change and how, it becomes a bit of a challenge. The first time I edited it,… Read More »Editing

Reading List

I think it takes an avid reader to write good fiction. Books teach us all, inspire us, allow us to escape reality for a while and explore other worlds. I love to read, although I must confess that I do get addicted to a select few authors for a very long time. My current favorites are Kresley Cole and Karen Moning. Both are amazing writers, who create worlds I sometimes wish I could live in. Of course, I do read other authors as well, but it rarely happens that I like a book enough that I want to read everything that particular author has written. Most of the time, I get over my obsession after a book or two. I… Read More »Reading List

Blood Debts

Status: In Progress Synopsis: Just what will it take for Amelia to get her life back to normal? Had it ever been normal to begin with? The answer is waiting for her in her kitchen. Sitting at her table, pointing a gun at her and demanding that she resurrect an experimental study that only one person has ever survived. Now she’s being threatened into accepting a job to in all likelihood help a guy kill himself in a very expensive and excruciatingly painful way. And the kicker is, this is the lesser of two evils for the both of them. Yep, just another normal day in her ordinary life.
