Super excited to share the cover art for SHADOW HOUND, book 6 in the Blood & Shadows series!
This is story is about the sweet and cuddly Quinn VanWarren, and Vega Ortiz, a former Shadow soldier with a knife obsession. Both of them were introduced in Shadow Hawk, and I can’t wait for you to read what they’re up to next!
Keep scrolling for the cover reveal, the blurb, and a full intro to the series and reading order, if you’re new to this world.
Quinn VanWarren has unexpectedly inherited his family’s massive fortune, and now they want to kill him to get their money back. They also might or might not be financing the Shadows. For the sake of their children, Quinn needs to get back into the family’s good graces and get them untangled from the army that’s currently destroying civilization. But without backup, he won’t make it through the first dinner course. Luckily, he knows just whom to call: the woman who already saved his life twice before and has been haunting his dreams ever since.
Vega Ortiz is nobody’s hero. She has her own problems and a mission she’s failing. But she owes Quinn a life debt, and his proposal could be her last chance to find the psychopath who still holds her leash. Working together is the obvious solution for both of them. But the intimacy of a fake marriage may just prove to be more real than either of them expected. And when things suddenly take a catastrophic turn, Vega and Quinn will have to face an enemy neither of them saw coming.
Giving up is not an option. Failure is unacceptable. Their only available path leads forward—straight back to the Shadows.
Series Intro
Blood & Shadows is a paranormal romance series that features shape shifters, telepaths, and military heroes and heroines. It is set in the far future but focuses more on the paranormal than the technology, so you won’t get overwhelmed with too many technical details. The series is currently 6 books long, with the 7th and final full-length novel planned out for release in the next year or two, depending on my writing schedule. The books are loosely separated it into two phases:
PHASE 1
These first books set up a universe where people with special abilities exist and conflict is brewing between those who are different, and those who want to control or destroy them. Unethical experiments lead to the creation of the first shape shifters, and introduce the Special Unit as the secret opposition to government control and abuse. These books can all be read as stand-alones with a different couple in each one. There are no cliffhangers but characters from earlier books will show up in the following ones in this phase.
PHASE 2
- Shadow Hawk
- Shadow Hound
- Untitled
Shadow Hawk jumps 3 years out from the end of Blood Hunt. This part of the series centers primarily around the Shadows, and their war against telepaths. You will not see any shape shifters in this set of books, which is why I consider them somewhat separate from the first half of the series. They get quite a bit darker than the first four. This is war, and you will see more violence and difficult situations than in the previous books. These books are stand-alones, with each couple getting their HEA by the end. But the last chapter may be a bit of a cliffhanger, as it sets up the next main character in the series.
If you’re just finding this series and aren’t sure if you want to commit to all 7 books, you don’t have to.
If you’re only interested in shape shifter/telepath romances, you can read the first four books and get a satisfying ending for all the most prominent characters by the end of Blood Hunt.
If you are more into darker, military/war stories, and don’t care for shifters, start with Blood Hunt and work your way through the rest of the series. That will give you enough background so you can dive into the plot, but you won’t miss any back stories for characters who appear in these books.
This title is tentatively set to release in December, 2024. Stay tuned for more details to come! As always, thank you so much for reading! I hope you love Quinn and Vega’s story as much as I do.
Until next time!
