Authorly Update and Freebies

Greetings fellow Earthlings! I come to you with news and updates on the goings on in realm Donnelly.

First and foremost, I hope you’re all healthy and safe, wherever you happen to be around the globe. My state has issued a “Shelter in Place” order this week. Currently, it’s in place until April 7th, 2020, but I’m already hearing rumors that it may be extended longer. It’s a scary proposition but, given the news coming out of countries who imposed strict quarantines and those who didn’t, I think it’s the right move, and I sincerely hope it helps stop the spread of COVID-19.

My family and I are among the lucky ones. We’re all safe, healthy, and still employed, working from home. It’s only been 4 days so far, though and cabin fever is already starting to set in. We’re all doing whatever we can to not bite each other’s heads off. LOL

I have some book news/updates to share:

Prince of Deceit in Edits

I completed the final revisions to the last installment of the Dawn of Ragnarok series a couple of weeks ago, just before all the school closings and health advisories started pouring in, and I sent the manuscript off to my wonderful editor. I am hoping to get the edits completed soon so I can give you a definitive release date but, at the moment, life takes precedence. I cannot and will not ask anyone to prioritize my book over the well being and safety of their family so, while I’m hoping and planning for a release date this fall, it’s currently tentative at best. I’ll share more as the situation develops and I have a clearer picture of the timeline.

Thank you again to all of you who are being so incredibly patient, waiting for this book. I promise you, it’ll be worth it. Prince of Deceit might have taken longer to finish than any other book I’ve ever written, but I think it’ll be one of the best ones, too. This series is extremely personal to me. I wanted to do it justice and I think I have. Picturing this last book as a finished paperback makes me excited to read it, and I can’t wait to get it out there!

Giving Back To You

The precautions imposed on my community are fairly lax, but even so, the constant stress and anxiety over what’s happening and what might happen is definitely taking its toll. I know many of you out there are suffering the same and worse.  I can’t do anything to fix the situation, but I can do my part to make it slightly less terrible. My preferred escape has always been books, so for the next month, I’m jumping in on Smashwords’ Authors Giving Back sale and making my published Rebel Court series books free at Smashwords.com.

You may have noticed I’m not as active online these days. I’ve fallen into my in-person habit of speaking only when I have something to say. It’s a stress response, what can I say? Now, with all this going on, I don’t think that’s likely to change any time soon. I won’t be sending out tons of emails or posting tons of blogs… But I do try to post at least once a day on Facebook. That has become my “update central” where I document my life in seclusion (which is kind of like my regular life, except without an hour-long commute to and from work). Feel free to friend or follow me there if you want.  🙂

I’m not the praying type, but I’m keeping everyone in my thoughts and sending lots of good juju that we all get through this unscathed. Please be safe out there, listen to the experts, not the quacks. Take necessary precautions, and try not to panic.

Love,

Aly D.
