Last year was the first time in my life I sat on a horse. Unlike the structured classes you see in movies, where they gear you up with a helmet, boots, knee and elbow bracers, gloves, mouth pieces, and a release from responsibility form, lead you around an enclosure for a few minutes and then maybe let you take a walk down a paved path, my ride was 3.5 hours of treacherously narrow up-and-down hill trails with ragged channels from recent floods and pit holes just big enough for a horse to get a hoof stuck in, across creeks, through a cow pasture…
I couldn’t sit down for a week after that. Needless to say, that was my first and last attempt at horseback riding. I’m taking a page out of Meg Ryan’s book from French Kiss: “I get around as nature intended. In a car.” It’s all well and good to have a conveyance, not so much for that conveyance to weigh a ton and have a mind of its own.
Now ziplining, that I can get behind. You strap in, step off the platform, and fly. It’s as close to flying as a human can get, without intentional or accidental freefall. After the first stomach-knotting drop, you’re left literally zipping across the landscape with an unobstructed view of breathtaking scenery.
Nothing wrong with that =) In fact, I plan on making use of as many ziplines in my life as I come across.
Anyway, the real reason for this is to tell you guys about the next Blog Hop the lovely ladies at LSB will be hosting. It’s an event that happens several times a year, and a great way to meet new authors, read great, funny, and/or sexy stories, and most importantly win prizes. I participate every chance I get because it’s always great fun. Last time the grand prize was an e-reader, and many freebie e-books were given out. It’s definitely worth checking out. I will post a link as soon as we get everything set up. For now, just mark your calendars and bask in the yumminess of this banner:
