- Bastien takes place before The Beast, but was written after it.
- The book Bastien puts in a place of honor in his library is the same one he makes Lyssette read to him in The Beast.
- Jean Lafarge, Lyssette’s would-be husband in The Beast, is the great, great, great, great grandson of Bastien’s best friend, Louis Lafarge.
- The Beast was originally written and published in chapter installments as blog posts. It is now published as a complete work, but keeping faith with the original posts, only typographical errors were corrected in this free download.
- There were three different versions of the cover before this final one.
- In the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast, Beauty is an only child. In this one, she is the youngest of three sisters.
