Because I just realized there hasn’t been one in a while. =) Grown-up life has a way of catching up to me. Yesterday I got my first ever royalties check and almost threw it in the trash because I thought it was spam. Yep, brilliant, I know. But I am so excited about it! I honestly didn’t expect one this soon. I can’t believe I’m officially a paid author. Well, okay, that’s a lie. I can believe it and I’m grinning from ear to ear writing this.
I’ve been lacking in inspiration lately so I thought it was time to pick up a new book. On the menu this morning was Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson. I started reading and almost forgot to get off the bus at my stop! It promises to be a great read and I can’t wait to get back to it. Maybe it will kick my muse into gear again – I think I’m having writing withdrawals. And it gets worse when a simple edit takes me a month to do.
It’s finally fall. The heat wave is over and it’s raining today. Time to break out the heavier jacket. Perfect time to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book and just get lost in fantasy for a day or ten. One of these days I will have a cozy little nook of a library with a crackling fireplace and a fluffy chaise and lap blanket. There will be cookies in a jar close at hand and music playing from the speakers, no phones, no annoying people gabbing in my ear; nothing but me and the story.
One of these days.

/ October 29, 2010Hearing from other readers and writers and receiving royalty checks (no matter how thin those checks may seem at the time) make writing worth it! When you get a cheery note from a reader or a royalty check, you know that you are on the right track!
